The synodal process will have to deal with changes in the theology of prophecy in the Catholic Church, and with the difficulty of framing prophecy in a Church where the bishops act as authentic guardians, interpreters, and witnesses of the faith. This will occur in the context of an ecclesial crisis not known at Vatican II. The essay, therefore, argues for a new voice for prophecy in positive relationship with the episcopacy and the institutional church. |

L’article, qui constituait la conférence inaugurale de la «Chaire Francqui» à l’UCLouvain à l’automne 2023, examine les effets de la polycrise (sexisme, racisme et abus sexuels) sur le sens de l’histoire dans le catholicisme aujourd’hui et tente d’encadrer ce changement du sens de l’histoire dans la phase actuelle de la réception du Concile Vatican II dans l’Église mondialisée. Comprendre ce changement de régime d’historicité est un défi pour les traditionalistes, pour ceux qui ont monumentalisé Vatican II, et finalement pour toute l’Église. |
